		<description>I like raw foods...salads are a mainstay of my diet and an almost certain choice for lunch.  I do like, however, the flavor of cooked foods too....some grilled veggies over lettuce, warm soups on a cold day, a tasty hot pasta.  It would be hard for me to imagine forgoing all the wonderful options, but I think adding in more fresh fruits and vegetables is important whether they are raw or cooked.  I tend to believe that cooking food to death (literally!) destroys the nutrient value, so I agree that less cooking and more "raw" is a healthy way to go.  Extremes are always just extremes and one needs to find a personal balance about food choices.  Of course, there are always those who like to preach their points of view...but who knows how they actually live.  Didn't I see Mr. Clement with a piece of cake (baked?) in his grocery basket?</description>

		<description>I too value the artistry and love which goes into preparing good food.   As a gourmet "wanna be", I always loved to try new recipes, scouring the latest food magazines for intriguing recipes and reading cook books like novels.  I believed food to be one of life's easiest pleasures and valued preparing, sharing, hosting many a feast for family and friends. At one point in my life, it was a daily (and in some ways sacred) ritual for three meals and perhaps a snack or two (or three!) as I created healthy food options for my children.  I loved putting together little plates of food for them...trying to urge them to become more adventuresome with their tastes but often relying on tepid standbys of macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and cereal.  Even so, I always added in some fresh fruit or vegetable (celery with peanut butter, anyone?) and tried to have the food look nice on the plates with a proper place setting.  It was a simple joy and I felt the privilege of nourishing young lives...yes, there was a deep connection occuring, even though I never planted a garden or gathered eggs.</description>

I visit Montreal several times a year - the bistros, smoked meats, tea at St James....Marche Atwater is one of my favorite places anywhere and we always go there for dinner shopping - fortunately my friends have a fabulous cooking kitchen!  Another must is Patisserie de Gascogne (both Sherbrooke and Laurier are wonderful).  I really enjoy shopping at the small cooking shops - while Sur La Table and Williams Sonoma are full of items, in Montreal, the shopping assistants all seem to have a true passion for cooking and creating.  Several to try:  La Maison d'Emilie (so many wonderful new kitchen tools and ideas!), Maison La Cornue (purchased a beautiful risotta spoon on my last visit), Les Touilleurs and more.</description>

		<description>Sapporo Ramen is a decent shop in Porter Square, another Cambridge neighborhood near Huron Village.  Their ramen is good, but its a limited selection (no spicy miso, my favorite).  Its located on Mass Ave. right near the Porter Square redline stop.  The phone number is (617) 876-4805, but I would probably google the location instead of call.  It's a little tricky to find because its inside a Japanese market place, but the scene is interesting in of itself if you're in the area. I hope that helps!  Have a great trip!</description>
